Project Morpheus, Virtual Reality Headset for PlayStation 4

Project Morpheus is a new product launching soon for Sony: it is a virtual headset for PlayStation 4.

The highly anticipated Games Developer Conference currently underway in San Francisco has yielded results, capturing the attention of industry professionals and beyond: Sony has leveraged this platform to unveil a virtual and augmented reality headset.
Shuei Yoshida spoke about it, explaining that Project Morpheus – the name of this new coveted item for gamers worldwide – is nearing its release after a development and design phase initiated back in 2010.
It is important to note immediately that no release date for Project Morpheus has been announced: Sony has only introduced the topic to gather feedback and reactions from the audience and subscribers to its official channels.
In short, the project exists, the device is under development (apparently quite advanced), but the company has opted to gauge market sentiment nonetheless.
The headset will be primarily compatible with PlayStation 4 but will also be able to interact with PlayStation Move and PlayStation Move.
The fact that Project Morpheus was presented at a conference dedicated to developers automatically leads to a hypothesis: Sony likely has a clear vision for the ergonomics and hardware of the virtual reality headset and is now focused on developing new content for users of this new device.

In essence, it appears to have been a not-so-subtle invitation to the developers present to propose new games and environments suitable for use with such a headset.
The innovation is certainly very interesting, but at the moment, it is impossible to know when it will materialize or, more importantly, its selling price.
