Nokia Lumia 701 and Lumia 800: Tethering Soon Available

Tethering is coming to the Nokia Lumia 701 and Nokia Lumia 800: the news is currently little more than a rumor, but it seems the update is almost on its way.

The Nokia Lumia 701 and Nokia Lumia 800 smartphones may soon see a significant improvement in connectivity: a rumor has leaked suggesting that these two devices will soon be updated to enable tethering.
The new feature could be operational by the end of April, although it is unclear whether the update will arrive on its own – as a single package – or if it will be released along with other already scheduled firmware.
However, it appears increasingly likely that tethering will “travel” from Nokia servers to the Lumia 701 and Lumia 800 terminals in a single package because, according to some rumors, a form of ostracism by some operators not favorable to the implementation of tethering processes on Lumia devices could hypothetically occur.
Tethering actually allows two mobile phones to communicate so that, if one of them were connected to a Wi-Fi or 3G network, the other could also use that network, as the first one would effectively act as a hotspot for the second.
One consequence could be the discouragement of subscribing to data packages for mobile browsing: hence the probably hostile attitude of some operators.

As for the brand new Nokia Lumia 900 and Nokia Lumia 601, tethering is instead a feature already provided by default on the devices, so the news regarding the previous models will benefit precisely those users who have decided to place their trust in the new Nokia smartphones born from the partnership with Microsoft, as these smartphones are the result of synergy between the two giants and therefore equipped with the Windows Phone operating system.
