HP Inc. has announced new mobile and business intelligence software to help IT managers make their printing environment more mobile, secure, and productive.
New HP offerings include:
- a mobile print software that makes printing from mobile devices within an enterprise network simple and accessible
- new business intelligence tools that help the IT department understand and optimize its printer fleet for better performance
Optimized mobile printing
HP JetAdvantage Connect allows mobile devices to print through the enterprise network’s printers with a simple and intuitive printing experience, similar to printing from a PC and without additional steps like opening a printing app or sending an email to the print queue. For the IT department, it is easier and less expensive to implement, as the print process rendering occurs on the mobile device, eliminating the need for a dedicated server, and IT can leverage the same tools used to configure and manage PC-based print infrastructure. HP JetAdvantage Connect currently supports Android, while support for iOS devices will be available starting in June. Support for other mobile platforms will be added in the future.
Enhanced security for mobile printing
- HP Access Control Secure Pull Print makes HP Access Control’s print authentication functionality available as a standalone offering at a lower cost. With this solution, the IT department can also provide the same monitoring and protection functionality for print jobs from mobile devices as is available when using a PC.
- HP Access Control 15.2 has been updated with support for the latest security protocols and the ability to use pull printing functionality across IT environments with multiple domains.Â
Improved print management for Chromebooks by the IT department
The HP Print for Chrome app, which enables local printing for Chromebooks, has been updated to support use with Google’s admin consolee. This update provides the IT department with a simplified way to deploy and manage the app across large installed bases of Chromebooks.
Increased productivity with Business Intelligence solutions
For HP Managed Print Services customers, HP is introducing a suite of business intelligence tools capable of providing transparent insight into their printer fleet, along with predictive modeling to prevent potential issues before they occur. These tools enable customers to make informed decisions, in partnership with HP, to ensure their printer fleet is optimized for productivity, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- HP Device Control Center offers interactive printer fleet management with real-time indication of device status and location.
- HP Instant Fleet Insights offers enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities by leveraging device data such as service history, firmware versions, fleet composition, and device utilization.
