Thanks to powerful quad-core Intel Haswell E3-1231 processors with Hyper-Threading technology and 16 GB of DDR3 ECC memory, expandable to 32 GB, the new W12850 and W16850 offer class-leading throughput speeds, which remain constant even under the most demanding workloads.
To minimize system boot and response times, Thecus has chosen to install Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 on a 60 GB SSD drive. This enhancement allows these two new models to deliver significantly superior performance levels compared to previous generation models.
Among the numerous features characterizing the operating system are Storage Spaces, which allows for the creation of virtual disks, and Data Deduplication which, by identifying and removing data duplicates, enables the storage of more information in less space without compromising fidelity and integrity.
Finally, the new W12850 and W16850 NAS allow for the installation of an LSI 3108 Hardware-RAID card, which can reduce CPU utilization and further enhance the overall performance of the systems.
