Microsoft Band, digital fitness band that also pays for coffee

Wearables news: Microsoft has unveiled its fitness band. It’s called “Band” and besides keeping an eye on your health, it can also pay for your coffee.

Wearables seem to be the new objects of desire, at least for the moment. So, while waiting to be able to weigh the release and real usefulness of smartwatches, Microsoft has decided to present a product designed for a specific category of users: athletes.
In fact, the Microsoft Band has been launched, a fitness band that also offers health monitoring.
The Band is obviously designed for seamless integration with Microsoft Phone devices, but it also communicates with Android and iOS, thus effectively positioning itself as a universal device.
The digital band will provide real-time data on sports performance thanks to the Microsoft Health app. In this way, it will also be able to propose personalized training programs and menus, analyzing sleep patterns and even measuring how long and how intensely you are exposed to UV rays.
All collected data, including health-related information, therefore interface with each other to provide a complete picture of one’s physical fitness.
Naturally, GPS is included, providing functionalities useful for tracking movements and fitness/jogging routes, so as to have data on distances covered and areas where, for example, you have run and trained, available at a touch.
Clearly, the Band will also offer notifications for calls, emails, and social media profile updates, being connected to the smartphone.

There is then a feature that has nothing to do with fitness but is integrated into Microsoft Band: by bringing the wearable device close to a barcode reader, you can pay for coffee using the wearable.
This option will currently only be available within Starbucks stores located in the United States.
Microsoft and Starbucks have indeed signed an agreement, and so to pay for a coffee, you will no longer need cash or electronic money in the “traditional” sense, but simply use your Microsoft Band in a second.
The new digital fitness band from Microsoft was launched just these hours at the price of 199 dollars. It should be noted that sales have only begun in the United States, and no launch date has yet been officially announced for European territory.
