Kim DotCom has revealed the opening date for the new Mega project, born from the ashes of Megaupload but more sophisticated.
In recent months, we have repeatedly covered the vicissitudes of Kim DotCom and the restart of his web projects.
Just a few weeks ago, via Twitter, the imminent return of this figure to the internet scene was announced, with a platform named “Megabox“, entirely dedicated to the world of music.
It was clear that the launch was imminent from the video released on that occasion, but today another brief announcement has arrived, again from Kim DotCom, which goes further: there is indeed a launch date for the project.
The new Mega project will be online from January 19, 2013: this is the day chosen to talk about file sharing again.
The watchword will be anonymity, combined with security: Mega will not allow its users to be traced, especially because an data encryption system that is impossible to penetrate externally has been developed.
Perhaps the adopted system could be similar to the one devised by The Pirate Bay: no real, physical servers, only cloud virtualization, with content hosted on different providers, not belonging to the same nations.
An intricate labyrinth that would at least make the task of tracing the system’s core difficult.
This is only a hypothesis of how the new Mega will function: at the moment, the core of the service to be released soon is not even fully known.
Certainly based on music sharing – the heart of “Megabox” – it cannot be excluded that the Mega platform might allow streaming movie sharing.
All in all, there isn’t much time left: January 19th is a near date, and it is possible that before then Kim DotCom will announce some other interesting details.
