There’s a sense of rapid changes at Apple: following the communication of the last quarter’s results, it appears work is underway for an early release of iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and other devices.
The air of crisis is being felt strongly across Europe, and Apple is not immune to the current adverse economic conditions: the results of the last quarter have alarmed shareholders, particularly worried by the fact that historically flagship products are no longer selling as well as they were a couple of fiscal quarters ago.
Although revenues and net profit show a decided increase, it is precisely the trend related to the sale of iPhone that is concerning, given that – despite a +28% increase in sales compared to the same period last year – one cannot ignore a disappointing and significant -26% drop compared to the previous three months.
This is a situation that is hoped to be recovered with the launch of the new iPhone 5. Anticipations on the new model are not lacking, and it appears the production project is well underway.
And speaking of iPhone, here comes the rumor: it seems that Apple has decided to shorten the release timeline, launching the new iPhone in September instead of October.
Simultaneously, it appears that the iPad Mini will also see the light of day, and there’s also talk of a restyling and overall update for iPod, another product that is no longer yielding the expected results.
Finally, there’s renewed talk about the release of the new and truly definitive Apple TV, but the time does not seem ripe yet: if the rumors prove true, the “iTV” could be launched around mid-2013.
