Introducing the ioPhone 5, an Android clone made in Japan that mimics the style but not the features of the iPhone 5C. Low price and release in late December.
For those who hoped for a truly low-cost price for iPhone 5C – Apple’s much-anticipated smartphone for everyone, which ultimately sold at a not-so-low price – here’s news that might attract those more interested in aesthetics than a device’s technical features.
On December 20th, the ioPhone 5 will be available for purchase, an iPhone 5C clone; contrary to what one might automatically assume, it’s not a Chinese clone at all, but a new smartphone designed and produced in Japan.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the ioPhone 5 closely resembles its illustrious original, particularly in terms of its colorful plastic casing.
The technical specifications, however, are far inferior to the iPhone 5C, as could be expected, especially considering the significant price difference between the two devices.
The ioPhone 5 arriving from Japan runs on the Android 4.2 operating system and features an MTK6572 dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM, while the available internal memory is only 4 GB.
The display further highlights the substantial difference between the clone and the original: the ioPhone is equipped with a screen resolution of 854×480 pixels and obviously lacks any technology even remotely comparable to Apple’s Retina Display.
Therefore, it can only be considered a clone from an aesthetic perspective, if that, and with due differences.
After all, the price point for this clone-smartphone should leave no doubt about its absolute lack of noteworthy technical features: the price of the ioPhone 5 is around 110-120 euros.
