Intel is reportedly designing an Android operating system notebook priced under $200.
Android, the operating system developed by Google’s staff, is poised to make another stride towards its already extensive adoption.
It has been learned that soon Android will become the operating system for some notebooks designed by Intel.
This news was initially reported by Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel, who announced that highly competitive machines will be available in the coming months.
The possibility of seeing low-cost notebooks and netbooks with the Windows 8 OS on the market soon was considered, but a few days later Dadi Perlmutter, another key figure at Intel, made it clear that Windows 8 was not specifically discussed, as the type of operating system to be used was not specified.
All of this has led to speculation that the innovation would be branded Android.
Many benefits for the user too: in fact, we are talking about list prices below $200, even for laptops.
The study reportedly includes not only versatile notebooks and netbooks but also desktop computers.
Another detail learned, though still just anticipation, is the common presence of touchscreen displays, while still featuring physical keyboards.
The arrival of these new devices could happen by the end of the current year, making the notebook sector – currently somewhat static and stagnant – more vibrant.
And who knows, with the contribution of Android, netbooks might make a comeback, currently overshadowed by the widespread adoption of tablets.
