HP ThinPro 6, simplified cloud-based deployments

HP Inc. has introduced a powerful trio of Thin Client solutions to enhance businesses’ workload computing transition to the cloud.

Thin Client HP t630, with the operating system ThinPro 6 and industry-first zero client support for VMware Blast Extreme provide a powerful and secure virtual solutions for data-intensive businesses, particularly suited for end-users who need to manage rich content in the cloud.

As companies increasingly turn to cloud-based applications for many of their computing needs, HP is meeting these demands with powerful, flexible, thin, and zero client platforms. With these solutions, HP is enhancing the performance of its Thin Client offerings and expanding the range of supported software.

“Recognizing the potential cost savings and reduction in IT demands, more and more companies are moving their workloads to the cloud,” said Gwen Coble, Director, Commercial Solution and Retail Solutions, EMEA, HP Inc. “A successful cloud implementation, especially for data-intensive use cases, requires powerful tools to enable end-users to access and interact with a range of rich content. HP’s new cloud-based, ‘power-play’ offering, at the hardware, operating system, and protocol level, addresses the need for fast and secure access to resources located in the cloud.”

Simplify Cloud-Based Deployments

Powerful and highly configurable, the HP t630 Thin Client simplifies current cloud-based deployments and protects customer investments through a path for future virtualization needs. Designed to replace desktop PCs for ‘knowledge workers,’ the HP t630 boasts the new generation of AMD embedded quad-core system-on-a-chip based on the x86 architecture, specifically optimized and integrated with AMD Radeon™ graphics to support up to two 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) displays and enable a rich multimedia experience.

Protecting technology investments, the HP t630 offers a range of legacy ports, DDR4 system memory, and up to 128 GB of optional local dual flash memory for storage. Customers can also choose between a wired RJ-45 connection or wireless connectivity with an optional Wi-Fi/Bluetooth® adapter. Other options include an optical fiber adapter for connecting to fiber optic networks or a system with an external Wi-Fi antenna to optimize performance in small spaces.

Increase Performance and Productivity

HP ThinPro 6 is a 64-bit Linux-based operating system that provides a performance increase of up to 30% compared to 32-bit systems. Built for the most complex cloud-based environments for all HP Thin Clients, ThinPro 6 is a powerful, flexible, and customizable solution that enhances security and productivity while reducing the burden of IT maintenance.

The new operating system includes the ability for tool-less BIOS upgrades to simplify upgrades, both locally and remotely. A new Certificate Manager also facilitates the addition, configuration, and management of certificates, which now reside locally in a single certified repository within HP ThinPro.

Access the Power of Cloud Content

Support for VMware Blast, the display protocol based on H.264 or MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standards for encoding and decoding, enhances Thin Client performance, both mobile and desktop, and end-user experiences. VMware Blast helps improve Thin Client performance, both mobile and desktop, by managing H.264 content, even with network lag. It also works smoothly, improving results, with HP True Graphics software, allowing users to better manage multimedia content.

“We are excited about HP’s commitment to the Blast protocol on their Smart Zero Client for desktops as we continue to drive innovation in virtual desktop and cloud computing sectors,” said Pat Lee, Vice President, Product Management for Cloud Apps and Desktops, VMware. “Through support for unified communications and software solutions like HP True Graphics, HP Device Manager, and HP Velocity, HP and VMware are bringing significant differentiation to the market.”

Price and Availability

The HP t630 Thin Client, ThinPro 6, and VMware Blast will be available starting in September. The HP t630 will be available starting at €430.
