It is learned that Google is reportedly launching the Google Fiber Phone project, to start with landline phone services.
As is well known, Google is not just the search engine giant but also expands its “tentacles” into various other sectors.
Among these, a project started a few years ago called Google Fiber remains operational: it is a business unit that has developed a network for home and business connections in quite limited areas of the United States of America.
At competitive prices, Google has brought stable connectivity to some homes and offices in Kansas City and other urban areas, without ever expanding beyond the service.
However, in recent days, something seems to be happening. Rumors suggest that some selected Google Fiber customers – particularly testers – have been contacted by the dedicated staff to inquire about their availability to use a new service.
Indeed, we are talking about the launch of a service related to traditional telephony, also bundled with Fiber.
Google Fiber Phone, therefore, would become a fully-fledged landline phone plan.
As just specified, the invitation has reportedly gone out to a few testers, so not only are the service’s features unknown, but it is also not being discussed through official channels of the Mountain View company.
However, it is interesting to discuss such a potential development, as it could lead to the hypothesis of Google entering a decidedly interesting sector, in which it is thought that such a giant could bring vitality to markets that are decidedly stagnant in some countries.
However, it must be considered that Google Fiber itself has not had significant expansion even in the United States. One wonders if, with the potential advent of the bundled phone service, Google has decided to take a turn in the project, perhaps starting to want to export it to Europe or other parts of the world.
