GTalk is retiring, or perhaps more accurately, being integrated into Google Hangouts. Here’s what changes compared to the past.

After discussing the new music features launched by Google with the streaming service Google Play Music All Access, Google’s announcements continue during the Google I/O conference.
It is learned that, with the aim of merging similar services, it has been decided to revolutionize the chat and messaging service GTalk and Google+ Messenger.
In their place – or as an integration of them, depending on your perspective – the Google Hangouts app has been released on the Play Store, already available for free download: a novelty and perhaps also an attempt to curb the growing success of WhatsApp.
Once Hangouts is installed, the previous messaging applications connected to Google services will no longer be accessible or usable on your smartphone or tablet.
Google Hangouts allows for group conversations (up to 10 contacts simultaneously, including video mode) and chat or video calls, drawing from the Google contacts list via email address.
Video chats are certainly an appreciated plus, as Google Hangouts ideally combines what a service like WhatsApp offers with what a VoIP telephony service like, for example, Skype does.
All in a single application, which is also available not only for Android and Chrome but also for iOS.
Finally, it will be useful to know that automatic synchronization across all devices used will always allow access to conversations, even in offline mode.
