Firefox 5 would already be almost ready, in order to reach the PCs of fox enthusiasts starting from the summer, probably June 2011. Here are the first rumors about Firefox 5.
A piece of news that surprises, especially considering the repeated difficulties that delayed by months the release of the final version of Firefox 4, which only reached its final form a couple of weeks ago, precisely on March 22, 2011.
However, the first rumors about Firefox 5 are already starting to emerge, with its new goal focusing on social features. While version 4 carries the keyword “speed”, the new claim of the release 5 will be “social”.
It’s now impossible to underestimate the viral push of social networks, so the only path that all companies in the sector seem to want to follow is aiming to integrate social buttons directly into the browser. In this way, the user, instead of moving to the page of the current social network, would remain within the service offered by the browser itself: less dispersion, more sharing, a presumed more or less conscious loyalty to the product.
Another new feature of Firefox 5 seems to be support for opening and reading PDFs, allowing access to documents saved in this format directly within the browsing page, more quickly.
The same concept could perhaps be extended to other formats as well, for example those linked to multimedia files (video or mp3), so that the browsing and content consumption experience of “complex” content always takes place within the browser, without opening new pop-up pages.
Basically, as mentioned a few lines above, work is being done on loyalty strategies and above all on the “economy” of resources, spaces, and windows, so as to improve hardware performance and the very experience of using the browser.
It is very likely that the first beta of Firefox 5 will be released very soon, apparently already during the second half of April.
