Since its launch, Angry Birds Rio has been downloaded as many as 10 million times. Record download figures when considering these numbers were achieved in just ten days of availability.
Angry Birds Rio is already in the pantheon of record-breaking downloads: it was Rovio, the software house producer, that announced it via a seemingly cryptic tweet.
“10 in 10“, this is the message conveyed via Twitter; the meaning is clear: 10 million downloads of Angry Birds Rio in ten days.
The new game in the series was made available on both iTunes and Android Market: a simple game, therefore, that we could safely define as “cross-platform”, loved by Android users and Apple users alike.
While the original game featured birds and pigs, this new chapter branded Angry Birds Rio features new protagonists: Brazilian parrots.
While awaiting the game’s arrival on Windows Phone 7 (availability announced for May 10th) and on Nokia with Symbian (April 8th), those who have already downloaded Angry Birds Rio can tackle the 60 levels that make up the game. This is not all, as new worlds are already being developed and will soon be available to expand the game.
Despite already engaging so many gamers via smartphone, the “grand” launch of Angry Birds Rio might happen soon, directly on the big screen: it appears that negotiations have been initiated between Rovio and some Hollywood major studios to create a cartoon for cinema based on the adventures of the Angry Birds.
As if that weren’t enough, another goal lies on the horizon for the software house producing the game: to climb the ranks on Facebook, ousting CityVille, FarmVille, and similar games.
