Facebook Sports Stadium is the new virtual “square” where you can comment live on major sporting events.
Facebook has announced the launch of a new area on its already vast platform, designed to “bring together” sports enthusiasts.
This is the new project named “Facebook Sports Stadium,” a sort of arena where, in the virtual stands, fans and enthusiasts can take their seats to comment on the sporting event of their interest.
Football matches, tournaments, Olympics, and so on: any kind of sporting competition can be “followed” by leaving opinions and comments about it, thus creating a meeting point even with friends and contacts who – despite being miles apart – are following the same sporting event live.
At the same time, even before the competition begins, useful information about the schedule and location can be found on Facebook Sports Stadium.
Immediately afterwards, however, the results of the various events will be published on Facebook Sports Stadium.
Everything will be organized chronologically, and users will also find in-depth comments and articles sourced from the profiles of accredited journalists.
The Facebook Sports Stadium project is, at the time of writing, only at the dawn of its operation, so everything is still under study, everything is in flux.
So much so that, for this very first launch phase, it has been decided to make it accessible only in the United States and, moreover, only to users of iOS devices.
It will start with live broadcasts of the American football championship, with the future expansion of the service to basketball tournaments and then other sports.
Once the “shake-down” phase just described is completed – and if the results correspond to the expectations of the development team of Facebook’s brand new hub – it is likely that the service will then be made available in Europe and on all devices.
