Facebook is targeting a specific segment of its user base: parents. News broke a few hours ago about the activation of a new service aimed precisely at users with children: Facebook Scrapbook has been presented.
Essentially, it is an album where parents can upload photos with and of their children. On the surface, it might seem like “old news,” but this new feature differs from the usual album creation in a few key ways.
Scrapbook allows you to direct your children’s photos directly into this “virtual memory box.” When creating it, you set a specific tag. Once established, you simply write the chosen word alongside the relevant photos, and they will automatically be uploaded into the album dedicated to your children.
You can choose your child’s name, a nickname, or any kind of word. The important thing is to create this special label that will characterize all your family images.
With Facebook Scrapbook, you can therefore create a photo collection that can only be shown to a carefully selected audience. You can also use this new feature simply as a private, non-publishable virtual album for yourself.
The album can only be managed by the parents, who will clearly become its administrators.
As of this writing, the Facebook Scrapbook service is only available to subscribers in the United States and can be used on both PCs and mobile platforms, particularly via iOS and Android.
There has been no official news leaked from the Facebook staff regarding the launch of the same service in Europe, and Italy in particular.
