It had been talked about for some time already, but now, somewhat quietly, on Facebook the era of paid private messages.
has begun. For a few days now, many users have noticed that it’s no longer possible to send private messages completely freely as before, to contacts not yet in your friends list.
Not only that: the new feature of potential payment will also apply to sending messages to VIPs.
How does the paid private messaging system work in detail?
Most importantly: how to avoid paying?
Every time you want to send a message to someone who is not your friend, a window will open, where you will find two options and this notice:
“Tizio is not one of your connections on Facebook, so your message would end up in the Other folder. You can now choose between the following options:
– Send this message to their inbox for €0.75 EUR
– Send this message to the Other folder.
Therefore, it’s still possible to send the message for free but whoever receives it won’t see it among all their other private messages, but rather in the dedicated ” Other” folder, which is not in the foreground, so it will need to be checked periodically and specifically.
The probability that the message will not be noticed and therefore read by the recipient should be considered.

The fees charged by Facebook for sending messages to VIPs: whether they are actors, singers, politicians, athletes, or personalities of various kinds, the social network will show the same type of notice as above, but at much higher prices.
To send a private message to Mark Zuckerberg, for example, the price to pay will be $100.
In general, the proposed rate has a base of $15, the minimum price currently set for VIPs.
Officially, the decision to make private messages paid was motivated by the Facebook staff, emphasizing that this will put a definitive stop to annoying spamming practices because only those who truly need to contact someone they are not yet connected with will consider paying to do so.
The system is still in its early stages, however, and it seems it will be refined in the coming weeks.
