It appears that streaming music services will arrive on Facebook in a few days, thanks to the agreement with Spotify, allowing users to listen to songs and tracks directly on their profile.
The agreement between Facebook and Spotify, the Swedish company engaged in the digital music sharing sector via streaming, is complete: the next step will be the launch of the feature on all Facebook profiles.
It appears that the technical experimentation phases are in their final stages, so within about fifteen days, it should already be possible to share favorite songs with your network of friends.
Rumors suggest that the agreement had no economic repercussions, but it seems it was simply conducted out of mutual need by the two companies: Facebook would allow its subscribers an additional entertainment tool, perhaps – with a touch of malice – thus reducing some sharing via Youtube, owned by competitor Google.
The advantage for Spotify is self-evident: the possibility of being used by something like 600 million subscribers would be appealing to anyone, also hoping for some more substantial “conversions,” namely the acquisition of Premium users.
Soon, you will be able to share and listen to music in streaming with a click: the Spotify icon could be placed on the left-hand column of each Facebook profile, but perhaps for use in Italy, we will have to wait a bit longer.
Indeed, it seems that the first countries to benefit from this novelty will be the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Spain. These are countries already “hooked up” with Spotify, thus the easiest to integrate via Facebook as well.
