Facebook: 15-Second Advertising Videos Coming Soon

Facebook is reportedly about to introduce advertising videos to be inserted between status updates.

It seems that at Facebook headquarters, new monetization strategies are being refined. According to internal whispers reported by American media, and Bloomberg in particular, advertisement spots will arrive this fall.
These will involve the insertion of videos lasting 15 seconds that will appear in the news feed, similar to sponsored links and posts, as is already the case.
A market like this could be quite interesting and appealing, both for Facebook’s coffers and for the spending forecasts of potential investors.
Without discussing this project, which, we remind you, has not been officially confirmed by Facebook staff, just a few days ago Sheryl Sandberg – Facebook’s chief operating officer – made statements that are now suddenly clearer and more contextualized. While commenting on Facebook’s quarterly financial results, Sandberg revealed that, according to recent data, there are between 88 and 100 million people in the United States alone connected to Facebook during prime time television hours.

An enormous mass of potential consumers who are increasingly avoiding traditional TV commercials or at least no longer actively following advertisements, being engaged with sharing, commenting, and liking on Facebook.
Therefore, delivering commercials via the social network could become a move to “recapture” this large audience glued daily to their PC, tablet, and smartphone screens.
We will have to wait until the fall to discover if the 15-second video ads will indeed arrive on Facebook.
