**ePad Femme** is a new **tablet** that, unlike other Android devices, has been designed for exclusive use by women. However, controversies are not lacking due to the pre-loaded apps.
ePad Femme is a new tablet – presented by the company Eurostar – which, unlike other tablets based on the Android operating system, is born with a peculiarity: ePad Femme is indeed designed for women.
The design of the version currently on sale doesn’t suggest anything particular at first glance, but upon turning it on, you’ll find screens with a strong pink background, with some apps already installed.
However, it seems that a second version of ePad Femme, with a pink chassis, will soon be marketed.
As for the technical specifications, they include the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and a 1.5GHz processor.
The display is 8 inches and the available internal memory is 16 GB, but since there is an SD card reader, it is possible to expand the tablet’s storage capacity.
The release of ePad Femme has not failed to generate some controversy, as the pre-loaded apps on the tablet are far too “trivial” for the female audience.
There are indeed applications for cooking recipes, yoga, and monitoring daily weight and diet.
What generated the discontent is not so much the presence of these apps, but the fact that Eurostar’s marketing director, Mani Nair, pointed out that this tablet is a perfect ally for women who might have difficulty downloading these applications.
Indeed, it is not clear what the problem in the situation would be: are women therefore not capable of doing it easily?
Yet smartphones and tablets – even before the release of ePad Femme – do not seem to be used comprehensively and performantly only by men.
However, Nair has rejected the accusations of those who, in his words, read sexism.
In any case, sales to date seem to reward this tablet, sold since February in Middle Eastern countries and also available in the United States, where the ePad Femme price is around $125: truly a low and interesting figure, especially because the technical specifications are anything but basic.
