Delicious at risk of closure: the rumor, not explicitly confirmed by Yahoo, stems from news about the resource rationalization and consequent cuts plan.
Delicious could soon be closing its doors: this is the unofficial news that has been circulating on the web for a few hours, following the announcement by Yahoo! of a reorganization plan aimed at restoring its finances.
The least profitable services will be hit by this corporate plan and, according to rumors, Delicious could be among the victims of Yahoo!’s cost-cutting measures.
Delicious is currently one of the web’s favorite bookmarking platforms for archiving sites to easily find and consult over time.
Just five years after its acquisition by Yahoo!, Delicious could therefore disappear, causing discontent among its users. In fact, the social bookmarking platform has always worked excellently, so much so that – if memory serves – Yahoo has never made any structural changes worthy of note to the service, except for a purely graphical restyling that did not alter Delicious’s operating mechanism in any way.
Although we must await an official communication from Yahoo to know the actual fate of Delicious, the only certain admissions concern the unfortunate destiny of other services: the closure of Yahoo Buzz and Traffic is, in fact, certain and official.
Yahoo is reorganizing and Delicious users are now warned: to avoid data loss, it’s better to start saving your bookmarks and look for alternative services, such as Diigo.
