CheWiFi!: app to map wifi in Italy

Those looking for wireless networks to connect to can have a detailed map thanks to the CheWiFi! app.

It sometimes happens that you need to look something up online and, even with a smartphone and tablet at hand, you might find yourself in an area with no 3G coverage.
In situations like these – but also on many other occasions – the ideal solution would be to find an open and free Wi-Fi network to connect to.
A new open tool is here, useful for knowing if there’s an access point available nearby: it’s the CheWiFi! app, created by “CheFuturo!”, the website affiliated with the retail bank “CheBanca!” of the Mediobanca group.
CheWifi! therefore maps available network access points, indicating both private and public ones.

The app will be fed – and thus will continuously expand and update – thanks to reports from those who make their network available or who find free hotspots: simply connect to the official Facebook page or make a report on Twitter using the hashtag #chewifi.
Beta testers are currently being recruited: you can apply to try the app in preview, available for download for iOS and Android.
