Canon EOS-1D X is the new digital SLR arriving on the market in March 2012, with a price commensurate with its great features, suitable for professionals.
Canon announces the arrival of a new digital SLR: it’s the Canon EOS-1D X, which has already been defined by many as Canon’s flagship. Its arrival in European stores – and therefore also in Italy – is expected at the end of March 2012, but its features and price are already known. What immediately strikes is that the Canon EOS-1D X is equipped with a dual DIGIC 5+ processor, making it a very powerful digital SLR. Regarding the sensor, it’s a 18.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS, while in terms of shooting speed, it reaches up to 12 fps (up to 14 fps in super High Speed mode). The framing is very precise, even in critical conditions: this is thanks to the new 41-point cross-type AF system that excels in more dynamic and difficult contexts. This is also possible thanks to the integration with the 100,000-pixel RGB metering system that detects faces with great precision and captures colors. With the Canon EOS-1D X, it is also possible to record Full HD videos (1920x1080p), equally precise and sharp, even though it is not a professional camcorder. All of this is easily controllable via the large 3.2-inch Clear View II LCD screen with 1,040,000 dots, featuring anti-glare, anti-scratch, and anti-shock protection. Great attention has also been paid to the materials and mechanics of this digital SLR, aiming for long-term durability: a professional product resistant to wear and tear has been designed, so much so that it is estimated to guarantee 400,000 shutter cycles. Finally, a curiosity: compatibility with the GP-E1 GPS receiver has been included, allowing you to automatically geolocate and geotag your photos. The price of the Canon EOS-1D X suggested by Canon itself to the public will be 6000 euros.
