The new Asus ZenWatch 2 smartwatch is coming: here are its main features, while awaiting its expected retail price.
New developments from Asus, this time entirely focused on the wearable sector. The new smartwatch, called “Asus ZenWatch 2”, has officially been unveiled.
It is undoubtedly the successor to the first model of its kind produced by the company some months ago.
This time, there appears to have been a strong emphasis on both aesthetics and battery life.
Asus revealed some of the main features of the Asus ZenWatch 2 at an event during the annual Computex 2015 trade show in Taipei.
It has been learned that the Asus ZenWatch 2 features a stainless steel case, which will apparently be offered in two different sizes: a 45mm case and a 49mm case. The strap can be chosen from multiple materials, from steel itself to leather.
A crown is visible on the case, which will be used to issue commands to the smartwatch.
The operating system is Android Wear, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.
The display is a 2.5-inch OLED panel, protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
Not much else is known about this smartwatch, other than a significant effort has been invested in enhancing battery performance to ensure longer autonomy compared to its predecessor.
The company announced its upcoming release without, however, formalizing a precise launch date or an indicative market entry period.
Asus has followed the same approach regarding the price of the Asus ZenWatch 2: no indicative figure has been specified for the cost of the new wearable device.
