Android for Work: smartphones and tablets become real work tools

Google announces the launch of a project designed to provide valid tools for work.
This is Android for Work, a program created specifically to allow anyone to work more easily on the go using smartphones and tablets.
It focuses on increased security, allowing a series of operations – even delicate ones involving sensitive data – without risks to your business.
Together with a series of prestigious partners, Google has thus created a universe of services specifically designed for those who wish to work even via device, without the need to finish work on fixed workstations.
Companies such as Sony, Adobe, BlackBerry, Citrix, THC, Asus, HP, Box, Concur, SAP, and other big brands are embracing the “Android for Work” project.
Android for Work is based on four key principles, as stated in the post introducing the news, published by Rajen Sheth, Product Management Lead, Android and Chrome for Work:

• Work Profiles – We have improved the default encryption system, enhanced SELinux security functions, and multi-user support in Android 5.0 Lollipop to create dedicated work profiles capable of isolating and protecting data. Now the IT department can make professional apps available alongside personal apps, with the assurance that personal data will remain safe. People will be able to use their personal apps knowing that the employer will only manage data related to work apps and will not delete or even view their personal content.
• Android for Work App – For devices running Ice Cream Sandwich and Kitkat or those that come without work profiles, we have created the Android for Work app. The App, which guarantees secure email, calendar, contacts, documents, internet browsing, and access to approved professional apps, can be completely managed by the IT department.

• Google Play for Work – Google Play for Work allows companies to securely deploy and manage applications for all users running Android for Work. Google Play for Work simplifies the app distribution process to employees and ensures that every app used is approved by the IT department.
• Integrated Productivity Tools – To simplify daily work, we have created a suite of professional applications for managing email, contacts, and calendars that supports Exchange and Notes, and provides functionalities for editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Google explains that the support of device manufacturing companies will soon allow for smartphones and tablets specifically designed to work best with Android for Work to be available; for now, however, you can already use the Android for Work app and find more information by visiting google.com/work/android.
