Amazon, pay with a selfie

Amazon is studying a new way to purchase quickly: soon it might be possible to make purchases with a selfie, instead of a password.

This news is quite curious, but Amazon is certainly no stranger to such innovations. According to reports circulating online these days, Amazon is studying a new payment method that, if it proves effective, would certainly have originality on its side.

In the near future, therefore, it could be possible to pay with a selfie or a video. A way to speed up purchases, but not only that. According to reports, Amazon has filed a patent for payment via selfie or video to enhance security, as the currently used password is more easily compromised.

Will this be the case? Meanwhile, even in the offline realm, Google has begun testing in-store payments via “voice command” with Hands Free, an application that could reduce checkout lines.

But that’s not all. The issue of security knows no age or trends; it is always relevant. Credit card companies, for example, are developing systems to ensure greater security for users to prevent the perennial problem, especially today when “cash” payments and even in-store payments increasingly resemble a “credit card.”
