Apple has given the green light for Google Voice to land on iPhone: the Google Voice app is therefore available on the App Store, ready for free download.

After a period of resistance from Apple, Google has won out, and Google Voice is now officially available on iPhone. The application, free on the App Store, is currently only available in the United States and allows access to many features: from sending free SMS, to push notifications for SMS and voicemail, to the possibility of making low-cost international calls.
To use Google Voice on iPhone, you will first need an iPhone with iOS 3.1 (or later) and, of course, a Google Voice account.
In fact, Google Voice allows you to have a low-cost virtual phone number: it’s practically like VoIP but more advanced, due to the easy interconnection possible with multiple communication channels.
The numeric keypad is very similar to the iPhone’s, so the application is well-integrated even aesthetically.
However, Italian iPhone users will have to wait – although there is no clear release date for our country – as will iPod Touch owners (assuming a version of the Google Voice app for iPod will ever be released in the future).
Therefore, after much back and forth, Google Voice for iPhone is now arriving on Apple devices, no longer exclusively on Android.
