Small but significant revolution at Google: the Home presents a new logo and several other new features, focusing on the social aspect.
Google has unveiled a new homepage, characterized by a series of new features.
First of all, you notice a change in the logo used: the letters become more “slender” and “flat”, as if they were 2D and no longer full with those shadings that gave the idea of 3D projection. All of this undoubtedly suggests a result that seems to aim for even greater essentiality.
Not only that: the trend seems to be confirmed in this period, also considering the recent changes introduced by Apple with iOS7: in this case too, in fact, fonts and icons take on a more essential and “flattened” look.
The top bar then disappears through which it was possible to access Gmail, Youtube, Google News and other services: everything is now “condensed” in the design of a series of small squares: by moving the cursor here, the vision of all the symbols of Google services will expand, so as to reach the desired section.
The only exceptions are represented by social services, by Gmail and by “Images“: in these cases, the items are clearly highlighted and are outside the grouping in the square.
If Gmail is the email service and therefore is presumed to be widely used, it must be confirmed that the attempt by Google to push users towards a more constant use of Google+, Big G’s social network, appears increasingly blatant.
Instead, services such as maps and news now they are no longer immediately accessible, despite always being two of the most used resources by netizens.
It spontaneously comes to mind, therefore, that Google has decided to focus more on the socialbranch, rather than on services that obviously feed themselves easily.
Overall, the innovations are not of great significance, nor are they revolutionary ploys, but certainly the signal that Google is always oriented towards change is periodically launched.
