Thanks to the latest firmware update, Buffalo NAS devices will be able to integrate even better into Microsoft environments, making available the capabilities offered by Microsoft Azure Blob Storage for backups.
Buffalo EU B.V., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of NAS (Network Attached Storage), USB, wired and wireless network storage solutions, announces the availability of a new firmware update for the TeraStation 3010 and 5010 series, which will enable these devices to synchronize with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
With the new firmware version (4.12), which can be downloaded for free from here, the TeraStation 3010 and 5010 can synchronize with Azure BLOB, thus leveraging the cloud backup options it offers, which are ideal for storing large amounts of unstructured data such as VHD files, movies, and certain spreadsheets. During the planning phase, users will also have the option to choose between differential and incremental backups, allowing for better management of available storage space.
Further advantages are ensured by the ability to specify the synchronization interval, storing only the most recent data on Azure, or to choose whether files deleted on the NAS should be deleted or remain archived in the cloud. Finally, if the user wishes to restore data, it is sufficient to download it from Azure and then restore it to the TeraStation.
