iOS users are currently receiving an important WhatsApp update, awaited for a few weeks now.
This is the upgrade that allows iPhone users running WhatsApp to make and receive free calls.
The functionality, highly anticipated worldwide, was first implemented on Android devices, with developers promising to soon extend this capability to Apple terminals.
For most users, the update will arrive automatically, but reports indicate some delays: the upgrade is rolling out gradually but is certain to become available to everyone shortly.
However, for those who wish to try WhatsApp voice calls on iPhone as soon as possible, even without receiving the update yet, there’s a way to “force” the process or, rather, to shorten the waiting time.
You need to access Apple’s App Store with your account, search for WhatsApp, and then manually initiate the update.
A fundamental requirement is to have iOS 6.0 (or, of course, later versions) installed.
Once the procedure is fully completed, you can start calling anyone via WhatsApp who also has the same app installed and updated for receiving calls.
The release phase of the functionality for the WhatsApp staff is not entirely finished yet: they will need to extend the same possibility to Windows Phone users.
Even in this case, after Android and iOS, the novelty should not be long in coming to become operational on this type of terminal running on Microsoft’s operating system.
