Apple’s iRadio could arrive as early as this summer, ensuring it doesn’t miss out on the streaming music trend.
Apple has successfully tapped into the music world early on, and now it appears to be on the verge of launching its own streaming music service.
Building on the global success and pioneering nature of iTunes, Apple may soon enter a market already well-represented by Pandora and Spotify, by introducing its own offering, tentatively named “iRadio“.
Greg Sandoval of “The Verge” is providing insights into the target market and leaking rumors about the upcoming launch of this service. He specifies that anonymous yet credible sources within the music industry reportedly confirm the arrival of iRadio, as Apple is making significant progress in negotiations with industry giants like Universal and Warner.
Furthermore, “The Verge” speculates that given the intensified dialogue with major record labels, iRadio could potentially launch as early as next summer.
If this holds true, the upcoming World Wide Developer Conference 2013 in June could serve as the ideal platform for unveiling iRadio.
However, the business model for the new service remains uncertain. Details are scarce, and it is unclear whether, like Spotify, it will offer free accounts or require a paid subscription exclusively.
