ASUS Fonepad: Price, Release, and Features

ASUS Fonepad is the new tablet, with calling functionalities like a smartphone, presented by Asus at WMC 2013 taking place in Barcelona.

The World Mobile Congress 2013 in Barcelona is underway, and with it, naturally, come new announcements for upcoming devices. Asus, after launching Asus PadFone Infinity, has also announced the release of the ASUS Fonepad, a new tablet that also incorporates functions of a true phone.
The operating system is Android 4.1, while the processor is a novelty: this time, an Intel Atom Z2420 at 1.2 GHz has been chosen.
RAM is 1 GB, while internal storage is offered in two different capacities: 8 GB and 16 GB. The 8 GB model will be available with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, while the 16 GB version appears to be available only with Wi-Fi support at the moment.
In both cases, however, it will be possible to expand the memory using microSD cards.
The screen is 7 inches, IPS type, with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. Two cameras are available: the main one is 3 megapixels, with autofocus function. The front-facing camera is 1.2 megapixels.

Notably, it includes an NFC module, which is not a given for a tablet that will still be sold at a rather attractive price.
Finally, the battery has a capacity of 4270 mAh, and the casing will be available in two colors: Titanium Grey and Champagne Gold.
The price of the ASUS Fonepad will be 219 euros for the Wi-Fi-only version, while it will go up to 249 euros for the Wi-Fi + 3G version.
The release is expected between March and April.
