Scenes from spy movies or what was considered science fiction a few years ago become absolute reality: Sony has launched the Sony SmartWatch on the market, a watch capable of navigating and communicating with Android smartphones.
This watch consists of the device itself – screen and internal components – and the strap: the parts are not fixed and therefore can also be detached, deciding to attach the device to other straps.
The screen is 1.3 inches and promises good resistance, having to deal with friction, impacts, potential scratches, and exposure to atmospheric agents for obvious reasons.
Regarding operation and network connectivity, it is an accessory that is activated via Bluetooth and therefore, to function, it will need to use the connection of another device: similar to a Bluetooth headset, for example, the Sony SmartWatch will communicate with the reference Android smartphone.
On the screen, it will therefore be possible to check email or activate apps but at the same time, you can check the activity of your smartphone itself as a phone: incoming calls, missed calls, SMS, and so on.

This watch can become a sort of alert for receiving messages, phone calls, or for alarms and calendar events: in situations where, for example, it is not possible to keep the ringtone on, you can switch the smartphone to “mute” mode, activating only the watch which – more discreetly – will update all events and changes in real-time.
Sony promises an autonomy of 4 days under full usage, while in standby mode it should last 14 days. Charging will then be done via USB cable.
The price of the Sony SmartWatch is $149.99 on the American Sony store, while on the UK store the price is £109.99.
An release date for Italy is not yet known: communication will be made as soon as possible.
