Google is increasingly shaping its project to consolidate and incorporate services into continuously richer virtual “boxes” of services: this is the case with the birth and the launch of Google Play.
This new service indeed primarily replaces the Android Market with all its apps, useful for enriching the multimedia, gaming, and office sectors of smartphones equipped with the Android operating system.
Besides that, the new Google Play also aggregates within its “cloud” Google Music e Google eBookStore.
All in all, therefore, Google Play is configured as the sole holder of thousands of songs, apps, movies, ebooks, and games.
At first glance, Italian users might not notice major differences, except for a name change from “Android Market” to “Google Play”: in our country, the transition of contents and services has not yet been completed; in fact, it should be specified that it is only in the initial phase. Hence, movies, books, and music tracks are missing.
Basically, the only actual availabilities for download and consultation remain the applications.
It is – as often happens – in the United States where the project has already started at 100% of its contents and functionalities; as for Europe, it will probably take a few months to witness a complete transition of all the involved services into Google’s new cloud: in our continent, legal factors related to copyright come into play, which, being different from country to country, deserve some extra attention in order to provide the same services to all users, within a regulatory framework that is smooth for each reference country.

Once this essential step is overcome, smartphone or PC users will also be able to store up to 20 thousand songs each, various movies, and everything else Google Play contains.
Most likely, from a purely economic point of view, special packages and subscriptions will be developed, so as to allow downloads even of new movie releases and paid content, with some saving.
