The GS2220 series can be managed in Cloud, CLI o SNMP, offering businesses the power and flexibility to adapt to the “new normal”. Zyxel Networks, a leader in providing secure, AI- and cloud-driven business and home solutions, today announced its new hybrid layer 2 switches in the GS2220 series. Designed to deliver exceptional performance and unprecedented flexibility to business and educational networks, they offer the industry’s first tri-mode management in Cloud, CLI (Command Line Interface), and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).

“The disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have taught a hard lesson about the value of having flexible management options ready to face any scenario,” said Crowley Wu, vice president of Zyxel’s Networking SBU. “Having a reliable network with zero-touch provisioning allows network administrators to operate while maintaining social distancing in this critical period.”

The star of the tri-mode switch is undoubtedly cloud management provided by Nebula, Zyxel’s Cloud Networking solution, which offers IT administrators the ability to monitor and control networks anywhere, anytime from a single centralized interface. Nebula is designed to support businesses by offering more efficient deployment, configuration, and analysis.

All GS2220 switches come with a one-year Nebula Pro license included. This allows businesses to familiarize themselves with the benefits and ease of transitioning to remote centralized cloud management.

If cloud management is not the best choice, administrators can opt for local management via CLI, a mode that offers deep granularity and full read/write access. Alternatively, there is SNMP management mode, which comes with a comprehensive management information base and simplifies and allows the control of devices from various brands across networks.

Stable, Silent, and Compact

Layer 2 switches must support the growing convergence load as networks unify data, voice, video, e-commerce, and other applications. This means stability is crucial for L2 switches, and Zyxel has developed significant hardware and software updates in the GS2220. The switches exhibit enhanced reliability, particularly with 2x stronger protection against electrical discharge and 4x stronger protection against surges.

Moreover, the switches can be conveniently placed in offices and other workplaces thanks to their new silent fanless design. Lastly, the GS2220 features smaller dimensions, taking up less space, which leaves plenty of room on racks or desktops.

Full Port Support

The flexibility of the GS2220 series extends beyond its port management. The switches support all L2 applications, offering up to 44 Gigabit RJ45 ports along with combo Gigabit copper/fiber ports or two SFP ports. Models with a lower port count are also available for networks that wish to utilize more advanced L2 management features at the access layer.
