YouTube on Telecom Italia’s CuboVision, Agreement Reached

YouTube videos are now on CuboVision, to be broadcast on home TVs, using the remote control like a standard TV program. Telecom Italia and Google have signed the agreement.

To watch YouTube videos, you will no longer be required to turn on your PC or any device with an internet connection: Google and Telecom Italia have reached an agreement that brings YouTube to CuboVision.
It’s a time of great news for YouTube: just a few days ago, we discussed the possibility of broadcasting your videos by choosing the Creative Commons license; we also know that much effort is being made to encourage the inclusion of high-quality footage.
The arrival on CuboVision, and therefore on television screens, is the natural consequence of this path undertaken by Google, increasingly focused on HD definitions.
Videos broadcast via CuboVision will be displayed full screen and can be selected using a bar displaying suggested videos; alternatively, you can perform a normal search for what you wish to watch.
Not all YouTube videos will be available for viewing on the TV screen connected to CuboVision: only those videos for which the respective authors have explicitly expressed their desire to broadcast them outside the web and YouTube will enter this “circuit”.
This is how the web and traditional media are beginning to interact fluidly, even in Italy.
