Some novelties regarding Windows 8 are arriving: features revealed little by little and without major disclosures, in anticipation of the Build conference.
Some novelties about Windows 8, the next Microsoft operating system, are beginning to surface. It could be the star of the Build conference, scheduled for Monday, September 12th.
The previews of Windows 8 are few and carefully measured by Microsoft itself, which is likely determined to surprise with something sensational or is hoping for the curiosity effect generated by such mystery.
Some features of Windows 8 have been disclosed, and it’s impossible not to notice the strong resemblance to Windows Phone 7, starting with the interface: Windows 8, in fact, appears to feature blocks and tiles on the screen, just like the smartphone operating system.
Not only that, but it seems Windows 8 would be able to “dialogue” very easily with WP7, allowing applications used on smartphones to be invoked on the PC as well, thus connecting mobile and desktop setups.
And perhaps – though this still seems more like a future potentiality than a concrete present possibility – a “Windows 8 Store” or “Windows 8 Market“, as you prefer, might soon make an appearance.
What is most intriguing, however, is another detail: the speed of use and response. Windows 8 would allow the PC to boot up within about ten seconds, while once the standby mode is activated, resuming activities would be practically instantaneous.
A further detail that aligns with the concept of speed is the presence of USB 3.0: file transfers will occur more rapidly and, as a rather important secondary consequence, will also allow for energy savings.
Still few known novelties for Windows 8 to form a comprehensive idea, but it’s probable that more will be known next Monday.
