The announcement from Microsoft officially confirms the release date for Windows 7: arriving on October 22.
The market’s reaction to this news was swift: Microsoft’s stock gained a full 7 percentage points, demonstrating anticipation and appreciation.
Positive reactions also came from users who are currently awaiting the new Windows 7 to replace Windows Vista, an operating system that failed to impress and led to an acceleration of the release schedule for the new Windows 7.
In this regard, it is understood that all buyers who purchase Windows Vista from late June onwards will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 free of charge as soon as it is available, thanks to special updates designed for this type of operation.
The new operating system will be available both as a standalone operating system and pre-installed, and will be sold in the following editions: Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, and Windows 7 Ultimate.
A special version for emerging markets is also planned: Windows 7 Basic.
