Vodafone Cloud is closing: data backup recommended

The Vodafone Cloud service is about to close its doors: where and how to back up saved data?

All Vodafone users who have used the Vodafone Cloud service in recent months will need to find an alternative as soon as possible.
An email from the telecommunications company has officially announced the definitive closure of Vodafone Cloud, the service that has until now allowed remote storage of various types of content, from music to photos, to documents.
At the time of writing, registration to Vodafone’s cloud storage platform is no longer permitted, while for all other existing customers the service will still be accessible for a few more weeks.
The closure will take place on November 1, 2015, so there is still time to save what has already been archived.
The decision just outlined by Vodafone has not caused great surprise among industry observers: the rather concrete possibility of a potential – and imminent – closure of Vodafone Cloud seemed quite evident with the launch of the new app “Vodafone Backup+”.
This is indeed a useful application for saving one’s material in the cloud, in collaboration with the Dropbox platform.

In fact, the suggestion from Vodafone is precisely to proceed with saving the data currently residing on Vodafone Cloud through “Backup+”.
It is already possible to do so via the link voda.it/backupplus.
Naturally, this is just a general indication: you can also archive in your own way, downloading everything to your PC, smartphone, external hard drive, or other storage media or cloud services.
What is certain is that Vodafone Cloud will no longer exist: the service probably cannot compete with the giants in this sector, including Dropbox itself.
