New version for Viber: on PC and Mac, it is now possible to make video calls and free calls.
Viber has been one of the most downloaded applications on the App Store and Android. Since its inception, it has captured the attention and favor of those seeking a way to make free calls, leveraging available 3G or Wi-Fi connections. Following the wave of downloads for mobile devices, Viber is now targeting – or rather, significantly expanding its reach – to the screens of PCs and desktops. Viber Desktop for PC and Mac was released about 24 hours ago and already allows users to talk for free with their contacts via VoIP. Notably, there’s an interesting feature for sharing messages across all devices connected to the same Viber account: users who already use the app will be able to see their contact list available on the desktop version. Thus, messages sent via Viber will be accessible on smartphones, tablets, or desktop PCs. Depending on the device currently in use, in case of a call, the voice mode will be activated only on the device in operation. In a purely cloud-based approach, messages deleted from a smartphone, for example, will also be deleted from other devices. Total integration across different platforms: an excellent achievement for Viber, which with the new Desktop version also offers free video calls between Viber users. The competition with Skype will therefore be direct and fiercer than ever.
