Toshiba Folio 100, an Android-based tablet, has been withdrawn from the market by major UK distributors due to a high volume of customer service requests and returns. Indeed, the Toshiba Folio 100 tablet exhibited numerous bugs, prompting Dixon and Curry, well-known large-scale retailers, to take decisive action. They initially significantly increased the tablet’s price, then effectively advised against its purchase.
While the first move was an indirect attempt to discourage users from buying the device, tacitly directing them towards lower-priced alternatives, the second step was more drastic.
The reaction from Dixon and Curry stemmed from numerous complaints made by disillusioned Toshiba Folio 100 users. These included the poor quality of the plastic used for the casing (a stark contrast to competing aluminum tablets), and equally low screen quality. Not content with this, customers grew tired of unmotivated and sudden reboots, not to mention unexpected system freezes. All these issues severely tested the patience of those who purchased the Toshiba Folio 100.
Some software bug fix updates have already been released, and further firmware updates are anticipated. Meanwhile, Toshiba’s headquarters remain silent.
