Tiscali’s TvBox arrives, the new system for viewing and sharing TV, multimedia content, and much more.
Tiscali announces the launch of a new product: TvBox, the new interactive television, available in the coming weeks in Tiscali Stores across Italy and already available for online order.
TvBox was developed in collaboration with TVBLOB and TELE System, to equip the device with multiple functionalities: it is indeed a TV (with integrated digital terrestrial) but also includes a video recorder, a media player, Wi-Fi connectivity, podcasting, and Full HD technology.
Therefore, in addition to the more classic capabilities of a TV, TvBox provides a vast amount of content directly from the web: enjoy content found on Facebook, Picasa, BitTorrent, as well as, of course, on the Tiscali portal. You can download movies, podcasts, YouTube videos, and browse sites recommended by the community.
Continuous web connection will allow automatic updates for TvBox, a system that – beyond the aspects related to the “end consumer” – is open source, always open to the development of new functionalities: HTML applications are available to everyone.
To use Tiscali TvBox, you need a TV set (it doesn’t matter if it’s an HD or a traditional television) connected to a TV antenna and an ADSL connection.
The launch price of TVBox is 199 euros; the device can already be purchased online through Tiscali.
