Synology has introduced a new NAS server. It is the DS416slim, a server suitable for both professional and consumer users. Capacity for up to 4 x 2.5-inch HDDs for a total capacity of 8TB.
What are the features of the DS416slim NAS?
Regarding hardware, the DS416slim boasts a 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU with a dedicated encryption engine and 512 MB of DDR3 RAM. With Link Aggregation enabled, the DS416slim offers read speeds up to 170.23 MB/s and write speeds of 77.62 MB/s. Writing through a single Gigabit LAN reaches a speed of 78.81 MB/s, an increase of 30% compared to the previous generation. The high performance of the DS416slim is combined with low energy consumption; in fact, DS416slim consumes only 17.17 watts on average during activity.
DS416slim has been designed for convenient maintenance and cleaning. The four hot-swappable trays are easily accessible, and 2.5″ hard drives can be quickly replaced if necessary. Furthermore, the fan module located at the bottom of the unit can be easily removed in case of malfunction. Additionally, one of the two USB 3.0 ports is available on the front panel of the DS416slim.
