Sony ZX1, the deluxe evolved walkman

Sony presents its new walkman: it’s called “ZX1” and it’s an evolved device compared to the past.

In the history of Sony there was a product that left a unique and large-scale mark on the company and the world of music: the Walkman.
Today, about 35 years after that era, Sony has decided to resume that path and reintroduce it in a modern key, with the launch of a brand new Walkman.
The product that has been on the market for a short time in Europe and America is called Sony ZX1 and it promises a high-quality listening experience.
As high as its price, which will be around 700 euros, but then again, the features are certainly not lacking.
The sound range will not lose any sound or frequency from the original recording, even improving the quality expected from a CD compared to an MP3 file.
In fact, the Sony ZX1 reads Aiff and WAV files, which are larger but have a completely different output.
It is no coincidence that it was decided to equip this advanced Walkman with a certain amount of internal storage available natively: you will have 128 GB of memory available.
The minimum, considering that it is for saving large music files and not MP3 files, which as we know are inherently compressed, resulting in a loss of quality.
The intention is clear, as revealed by Kazuo Hirai, Sony Chief Executive: “An entire generation has never experienced the emotion of listening to uncompressed audio files,” therefore with the advanced Sony ZX1 Walkman, you will have an experience very similar to that of an MP3 player but completely different from a sonic point of view.

As reported by Ansa, in fact, this device allows you to enjoy “resolutions up to 24-bit depth and 192 kHz frequency,” far superior to those of CDs, let alone MP3s.
The design is also particularly refined: in addition to a touchscreen, the casing is striking. It is indeed a single block of hand-worked aluminum.
How is the Western market reacting to this new Sony Walkman model? At the moment, no official numbers have been released in this regard, but in Japan – where the product debuted a few months ago – its rise has been quite evident. The Walkman, in fact, sold out.
