Sony has launched the LA-EA5: a 35mm full-frame A-mount lens adapter that allows users to easily pair advanced E-mount cameras with A-mount lenses.
With the new adapter, you can experience advanced autofocus capabilities by connecting A-mount lenses to the latest E-mount camera models.
Using the new LA-EA5 adapter for A-mount optics A-mount it is now possible to leverage the highly regarded autofocus and high-speed shooting features, available in the latest generation of Sony E-mount cameras, with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) A-mount lenses, as well as with A-mount lenses that do not have internal focus motors.
When used with Alpha 7R IV or Alpha 6600 cameras, the adapter allows for high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking up to 11 fps with SSM/SAM lenses and lenses without internal focus motors, such as Sonnar T 135mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T 85mm F1.4 ZA. Full compatibility is provided with focal-plane phase-detection autofocus, wide-frame phase-detection autofocus, Real-time Eye AF for humans and animals, real-time tracking, and AF/AE tracking (automatic exposure).
The LA-EA5 adapter features a compact design with an aperture control unit and a newly developed compact focus unit. To ensure comfortable operation when used on an E-mount camera, the diameter of the new adapter complements that of the A-mount, aligning perfectly with the mount edges. The LA-EA5 adapter allows for easy use on full-frame E-mount cameras, even when the camera body is equipped with a vertical grip.
