Social Media Week changes city and comes to Rome with the new edition of the event announced for February 2011.
Social Media Week presents its second Italian edition with the first known novelty: the location change is starting. If last September the online community present at Social Media Week was welcomed by Milan, this time it will be Rome hosting this Italian web festival. The work for the second Social Media Week will take place from Monday, February 7 to Friday, February 11 in various locations across the capital, allowing free participation in numerous seminars and meetings.
Trends and characteristics of online life and the fertile ground of social networks will be analyzed, under the banner of the claim chosen for the new edition: “CondiviVere“.
The program is still evolving, so much so that anyone can contribute by reporting initiatives, ideas, proposing an event, or helping out with organization as a volunteer: just visit the event page socialmediaweek.org/rome/get-involved and apply.
Social Media Week is open to everyone, as explained by Marco Montemagno and Marco Antonio Masieri, “masters of ceremonies” of the event and co-founders of Augmendy, the company organizing it: “Our aim is to spread the opportunities of the Net to the general public with original and quality initiatives. We will mobilize over 200 people among organizers, staff, and promoters, and even in this edition, we will be able to bring to Rome high-level speakers, innovative formats, involving not only the main players in the web/tech sector but also all those interested in the potential of the Net.” Open doors then to companies, web professionals, and curious casual users.
Social Media Week 2011 will not only be held in Rome: on the same dates, simultaneously, the same event will take place also in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Toronto, São Paulo and Hong Kong.
A sort of international format based on social web trends which in Italy, at least for the 2011 edition, will establish its residence in Rome.
