For years, Schneider Electric has offered the option of choosing Lithium-Ion batteries in its range of power protection solutions, including industry-leading three-phase UPSs. With today’s announcement, the company is making Li-Ion technology available in its portfolio of single-phase Smart-UPS solutions with the new APC Li-Ion Battery line of UPSs.

• Extended UPS life: Lithium-Ion batteries can have a lifespan of over 10 years.
• Smaller size and weight: due to higher energy density, Lithium-Ion batteries have a much smaller footprint and weigh about 30% less than VRLA (Valve Regulated Sealed Lead-Acid) batteries.
• Reduced maintenance and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): thanks to a doubled battery lifespan, maintenance costs are reduced by up to 53% and associated costs, over the entire lifespan of the UPS.
• Safety: APC’s proven track record in safety, quality of design, and compliance with safety standards (UL 1973, UL1642/IEC62133) ensure peace of mind.
• Better performance at higher temperatures: Lithium-Ion batteries can operate at higher average temperatures (e.g., 40°C/104°F) without reducing UPS performance in operation.
• Increased runtime: Smart-UPS On-Line can be configured by adding matching Li-Ion battery modules to meet the needs for particularly long runtime requirements. based on IT and business needs.
• Remote management capabilities: an option with NMC (Network Management Card) pre-installed, this solution can improve the visibility of edge environments with monitoring and control capabilities.
