This morning, the **Slingshot** app appeared on Italian stores. Let’s find out how it works before downloading it for free.
Some time ago, the news of the acquisition of an app by Facebook quickly went around the web.
The social network giant, in fact, went shopping again, bringing home the app Slingshot.
The buzz was due to the fact that it is an instant messaging app that self-deletes sent photos, videos, and messages.
Nothing new, one might object: the much more famous Snapchat; Facebook actually tried to acquire the latter in the past and, failing that, shifted its attention to the competition, thus becoming the owner of Slingshot.
After the launch phase started in the United States, the app is now available in Europe and therefore on the Italian stores App Store and Google Play Store.
Unlike Snapchat, Slingshot has a slightly but significantly different functionality: it is indeed a chat with “self-deleting” content, but there is a particular aspect to keep in mind.
Once a photo, video, or other type of content is received, the recipient can only view it at the moment they initiate a real interaction with the sender.
Therefore, you cannot watch it and then decide whether to reply, but you must first “react” and then view what you have received.
The core of Slingshot’s functionality is therefore not the sending, receiving, and disappearing of the message; it is instead about the interaction between users, the exchange of information, images, videos, and greetings before the disclosure of the content in question.
The camera that activates by default is the front one, but the user can always decide to use the rear one, as preferred.
Once a photo is taken, moreover, you can decide to send it as is or choose to “embellish” it with writings (even freehand using the screen), stickers, and similar graphic elements.
All content you wish to send via Slingshot can be sent to a single contact, to groups, or even to the entire address book: whether it’s a one-to-one or group interaction, the functionality remains the same, and therefore recipients will see it a moment after initiating a reply.
The content will then remain visible only as long as it is on the display: as soon as the app is closed, everything will disappear and no trace will remain, not even on the servers.
The viral effect is therefore assured and, not by chance, it is thought that Slingshot could easily become the cult app, especially among the very young.
Slingshot is already available for download in Italy and is completely free.
