Skype, out-of-order message history bug: what to do?

A bug is reported on Skype: messages are not displayed in the correct chronological order. Here’s a temporary solution while waiting for the resolution update.

Microsoft has ascertained that one of the latest updates released recently has led to a bug emerging in the messaging and communication system.
In fact, it is understood that many users using Skype version 7.17.0.105 are experiencing a strange phenomenon: the chat message history is not in order.
This means that Skype is not displaying messages in the correct chronological order, although this does not happen systematically.
Some users have indeed reported the anomaly, which is often sporadic, meaning it does not occur in all conversations but only in some.
Following the various reports sent by service subscribers, the Microsoft team working on Skype commented on the incident, first and foremost assuring that staff are already working on a solution to the problem, which indeed exists.
Furthermore, a useful piece of advice has been provided: restore the previous version (i.e., 7.17.0.104) by first uninstalling the most recent update received that caused the bug in question to emerge.
Version 7.17.0.104 is currently still easily available through official channels, by following the link download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.17.0.104.msi: a window to save the relevant file will open directly.

This way, you can restore the correct display of chat messages and avoid confusion, until the next fix is released by Microsoft: an update that will resolve the issue.
