Sky will likely revolutionize program viewing starting from March: it will be possible to have Sky Go on iPad for free, and furthermore, the opportunity to watch new channels will be extended to PC, iPhone, and iPad.
In Italy, just as it already happened in the United Kingdom, Sky appears to have decided to offer part of its programming on mobile devices: Sky Go arrives, free on iPad, PC, iPhone, and iPod.
The free access will particularly cover the entire month of March but will then continue forever, at least for subscribers to the Sky HD service.
For all other subscribers, however, specific packages will be studied to allow watching certain programs on mobile devices too.
If the offer currently in effect until February 29, 2012, were to remain confirmed, we would be talking about fees potentially around 3 euros more per month for Home Pack or Multivision subscriptions, while all others could have the same services for 7 euros per month.
Certainly, 24 channels will be viewable on smartphones, PCs, and tablets, including Sky Calcio, Sky Uno, and Sky Sport. Furthermore, according to some recent rumors, Sky would have decided to extend this possibility to the new TV series premiered on the channel “Fox“.
It is not yet clear if there will be specific news for Android users: only these devices would be excluded, since the Sky Go service has already been active for some time on Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets.
It is therefore very likely that the ability to watch Sky also on mobile devices will soon be extended to everyone, in order to bring a part of the programming to those who do not own a satellite dish and have not yet subscribed to satellite channels.
